The Arts Council of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway bring a large dose of art to the Indy 500. 

Every year since the 100th running of the Indy 500 the IMS and the IndyArts has invited artists to design a “Welcome Race Fans” poster. Our own Scott Johnson was one of five artists commissioned to create artwork for 2023 Welcome Race Fans. A collaboration between Indy Arts Council and Indianapolis MotorSpeedway, Welcome Race Fans features artwork by local artists on billboards, signs,posters, stickers, and coasters around town, welcoming visitors to Indianapolis andcelebrating the history, culture, and excitement of the month of May.
